My mortal enemies comic cover from "The Hook: Anatomy of a Comic Book Cover" taken at SAIC in Spring 2025. This cover is for the manga "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask." This course was taught by Dijana Granov.
This piece was turned in completed, but needs to be revised based off of the feedback recieved during critique before I add it to my portfolio or sell it as a print.
Critique notes:
- My note: Add shield design
- Captured how scary Skull Kid is
- Looks good from far away and up close
- Dijana said this is true and very good! Looks good from far away, from medium distance, and up close
- Lighting is very strong
- Especially on the mask and on Link
- Like how I did rimlighting on the monsters
- Link can move a little to the right
- Like the intensity
- Eyes in the BG that aren't in the spotlight can be dimmed
- Rendering is really nice
- Sword angle being shifted to not be tangent with the shield
- Favorite part of the piece is the lighting from the mask
- Should show on Skull Kid's feet and legs more
- Dijana's notes:
- Forground monsters can be darker then fade to the background more as they go back
- The eye cones should be more separate
- The monsters can be different shades of purple getting lighter towards the back
- Warm towards the light, add pinks and oranges?
- Forground monsters can be black
- The monsters look so good and add so much we deserve to see them
Note: Picture or scan of these critique notes need to be added, as they include sketched examples
